Marketplace, inspired by the theory of the Marketplace of Ideas, began as our effort to provide space to those thoughts and ideas that do not conform and to amplify voices. The theory of the "Marketplace of ideas" is based on the idea of free speech, however, in the times we live in, it is vital to question how free is this market really?

We hope to make this journal reflective of the multiplicity of voices in this world and would like to promote new and emerging artists.

As Adrienne Rich puts it, "Art means nothing if it simply decorates the dinner table of the power that holds it hostage".
